 Sexual Harassment Committee (ICC)

To ensure a safe, equitable, and respectful learning and working atmosphere, Mata Gujri Khalsa College, Kartarpur has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The committee upholds a strict zero-tolerance policy towards any form of sexual harassment and is committed to promoting a culture of dignity, equality, and inclusiveness on campus.

 Understanding Sexual Harassment:

Sexual harassment refers to any unwelcome behavior, whether physical, verbal, written, or non-verbal, that violates an individual’s dignity. It may include:
  • Inappropriate physical contact or advances.
  • Requests or demands for sexual favors.
  • Sexually suggestive comments, jokes, or gestures.
  • Circulation or display of offensive or obscene content.
  • Any act that creates an environment of fear, hostility, or humiliation.
  •   Role and Functions of ICC:

    The ICC of Mata Gujri Khalsa College, Kartarpur serves both preventive and redressal functions with the following responsibilities:

  • Organizing awareness and sensitization programs on gender equality and respectful behavior.
  • Taking proactive measures to prevent harassment on campus.
  • Receiving complaints in a confidential and impartial manner.
  • Conducting fair inquiries in accordance with principles of natural justice.
  • Recommending appropriate disciplinary and/or legal action against proven cases of misconduct
  •  Action against Misconduct:

  • Any student or employee found guilty of sexual harassment is subject to strict consequences, which may include:
  • Formal warning, suspension, or expulsion. (for students)
  • Disciplinary action, suspension, or termination .(for staff)
  • Withholding of academic or professional benefits such as scholarships, results, or promotions.
  • Initiation of legal proceedings under the 2013 Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
